Lyn Traill

Lyn Traill is living proof that it is never too late to find your fabulous. And her book, Sizzling at Seventy is evidence that, like a fine wine, some people just get better with age.
Long-time educator-turned-management consultant Lyn says she feels mentally sharper than ever and attributes her increased acuity and understanding to a constant thirst for knowledge, the consequence of her lifelong passion for education. Add to this the wisdom that age and experience brings, and Lyn really is in the prime of her life. She has written Sizzling at Seventy to help others to ‘find their sizzle’ too, no matter what their age.
In Sizzling at Seventy, Lyn tells the story of her journey from a child brutally abused by her mother, through hard times, bad marriages and the near loss of a beloved child to, at long last, a place of true contentment. But it’s more than just a moving memoir. In relating these experiences, Lyn also shares the fundamental observations she has since made during a period of reflection about pivotal moments in her life that have proved crucial in her own recovery.
The result is a powerful blueprint for anyone wishing to banish negative self-talk, improve self-esteem and truly fulfill their potential.
Our population is ageing, and the average Australian today will live much longer than previous generations. Lyn Traill’s message to those mature aged Aussies is this: it’s never too late to ‘find your fabulous’!
Author, educator and management coach Lyn Traill is living proof that some people just get better and better with age. At more than 70 years old, Lyn is happier, more successful and more fulfilled than at any other point in her life. Want to know her secret?
Lyn’s book Sizzling at Seventy will show you how to become the best possible you – and teach you how to find your sizzle! Her talks are equally inspiring.
Lyn’s mission is to help others achieve the same kind of professional and personal success that she has accomplished, whatever stage of life they happen to be in. Sizzling at Seventy blends her life story with the hard-won wisdom that Lyn learned the hard way so that you don’t have to. It’s the culmination of years of reflection, academic study and hard graft, a practical handbook for learning to overcome the past and truly fulfill your potential.
As the Australian economy becomes increasingly dependent on the mature-aged worker, thankfully, 70 years old just isn’t what it used to be. Lyn Traill is just one of many mature-aged Aussies who feel sharper, wiser and more confident than ever before.
It’s time to learn from the wisdom of our elders.
ABOUT LYN TRAILL
Lyn’s work has touched many people in many ways. She became a teacher in spite of her own poor experience of school, determined to prove she could do better than her own educators. She eventually worked for the Queensland government specialising in children who didn’t ‘fit into the system’, such as Indigenous children in remote areas and the kids of travelling carnival workers. The programs she wrote for these children and their parents set a new benchmark in the area.
Later in life, Lyn’s work in the corporate sector helped many companies to better recruit, train and manage their staff. Currently, Lyn is a professional coach and public speaker, and she mentors a number of young women in her spare time. Last year, Lyn volunteered in a domestic violence refuge in inner Sydney, and was touched to hear the women staying there reveal that, thanks to Lyn’s honesty about her own abuse, they were able to tell their stories for the first time.
Sizzling at Seventy was written at the insistence of Lyn’s beloved husband, musician Mick Hadley, who passed away in late 2012 after a sudden and unexpected illness.
Lyn’s background is rich in corporate and personal experience which allows her to speak to any group looking for inspiration.
TESTIMONIALS
- “Inspirational” is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Lyn Traill and the talk she gave which I was lucky enough to attend recently. That word is closely followed by “honest, caring and funny”. Having dealt with just about every difficulty that life could throw at her, Lyn is generous and brave enough to share her experiences and how she became the wonderfully positive role model she is to us all. She left us with a feeling of enthusiasm for life and the wish to make the most of each day ahead. Not many people have this gift but certainly – Lyn does! - This is the most amazing story. I can feel your pain as a child. I was so inspired listening to this interview that I went and shared it with a friend. We often discuss child abuse and emotions we’ve dealt with during our childhood. This is one of my ‘must have’ books. Thank you for sharing your life.- Jason ABC Listener
